My mother took me to Orange Julius every other weekend in Newburgh, NY back in 81-84. I always got a smoothie and a hot dog called the "St. Louis" I think! It was cheese, mustard and bacon bits. I loved it. I'm vegan now and I just made it with Wholefoods 365 Veggie dog, Chao Cheese Slices, Veggie bacon bits and yellow mustard on a potato roll.

In a saucepan, add the ground beef and beef broth. Mash, using a potato masher to break the beef up. Continue to cook. Add the rest of the ingredients to the saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat, and simmer until chili has thickened and beef is fully cooked for about 25-30 minutes. Top over hot dogs.

I practically subsisted on Orange Julius nearly 60yrs ago! It was delicious, as were the chili-cheese hot dogs. I distinctly remember the orange juice was always fresh-squeezed, the proprietary powder was a cream-white color, while the raw egg was only added on request, at additional cost. It made the drink extra creamy and tasty.
